Young writer publishes memoir

Young writer Di Li published her memoir Nhat Ky Mua Ha (Summer Diary) in traditional print and online e-book versions yesterday. The book consists of 51 stories about Li's childhood in Ha Noi. Some of the stories originated as blog posts in 2008, but positive feedback inspired her to compile them into a book.

Authors take flights of fancy

Di Li who wrote Tang Thu Nhat (The First Floor) and Dieu Valse Dia Nguc (Waltzing in Hell) is among very few Vietnamese to write horror stories. Her recent work, Trai Hoa Do (A Farm of Red Flowers), a big hit, tells the tale of a young woman who gets a farm in a mountainous area as a gift from her husband.

Togetherness suffers in drive for wealth

Vietnamese writer Di Li, who studies the human condition to find material for her stories, says: "Today, as society develops, many people are very busy and have few opportunities to meet up with neighbours. Thanks to modern technology, such as mobile phones and the internet, people do not need to meet each other directly"

Broadband literature

Blogs have been rewriting the authors manual as readers respond positively to e-literature. Di Li, known for bestselling thrillers, feels that key to the success of e-writing is the ability to grab and hold the reader’s interest. “Otherwise they will turn to a more fascinating site with just a click”, she notes.
